The above quote by me will tell you about Memento. If you don't pay attention you won't understand. If you pay attention you will see that its a Grade A Gem of a film that needs to be understood by its targeted audience, everyone.
To me it's just a movie with a unique gimmick, and that alone doesn't make it awesome; the film itself is just too frustrating to try and watch.
The "backwards" story of this film was a pretty good plot device...for the first few minutes. Then it was repeated over and over, and I didn't think the other aspects of the film could rescue it from that repetition. The first time I hear a joke, I might laugh, but how about the twentieth time?
