the first one was really great in its time; however, u compare any of the sequels to all the movies so far released, even the first one pales to the best films of this time
It was great in it's time, but it's painfully dated now. The trench coats, industrial music, cyberpunk, anime reference, etc. all scream late 90's-early 00's. It seems really cheesy now, plus everyone speaks in monotone. It's hard to feel for a cast that doesn't show a glimmer of emotion throughout three whole movies. Inception is definitely an upgrade.
It was nice for what it did, but didn't really need a trilogy -- or any cult following. It's a much better concept as a game rather than a movie.
Original is great, 2 and 3 were terrible.
Keanu Reaves ass. That is reason enough to never watch any part of the series.
Any movie with obvious special effects is crap. The intelligence of the movie-going public is at an all time low. The average audience has a two second attention span, so this is the kind of sludge Hollywood cranks out to keep everyone happy.

Matrix is one of those movies that seem really cool, but if you think about it or watch the other two movies, you realize it's not nearly as "deep" as you thought. It's pretty solid as an action movie, but definitely overrrated.
The best trilogy.
I loved this movie very much. I just wish I'd never watched the last two, I just can't watch it the way I used to anymore.
